Itinerary choices

Our group will be traveling across Niger in small groups of no more than 24 each. The 5 groups will convene at Bilma on 28 March on the night before the eclipse. Our camp will be at the small village of Bilma, where we can share the experience with the local people. Tradition indicates that the nomadic peoples are freightened by the eclipse, but we hope to share the experience with them to allow them to enjoy the beauty and splendour of the event. Many are interested in witnessing this interaction for the reactions of the native nomads of Niger.

7 day condensed Eclipse Tour with Air mountains:
March 25 - April 1, 2006

  • 03/25: (saturday) : Arrival in Agadez with charter flight. Hotel transfer then free time for visits in town.
  • 03/26 : Early morning departure with 4WD : Agadez - Tiguidit cliff (engravings) - Camel well of Oufaguédout - Bourra Nassaouane - Ténéré tree. Overnight camp.
  • 03/27: erg of Ténéré - Oasis of Fachi (visit of the village and the salines). Overnight camp after Fachi on the erg of Bilma.
  • 03/28 : erg of Bilma - Oasis of Bilma (visit of the village and the salines) Overnight camp at the “eclipse camp” between Bilma and Dirkou.
  • 03/29 : Eclipse day. Morning observation - Dirkou - Achegour. Overnight camp.
  • 03/30 : Crossing the Ténéré South/west - Amzeguer. Overnight camp.
  • 03/31 : Tiguidit cliff (engravings) - Agadez. Overnight hotel.
  • 04/01 : Departure from Agadez to Paris with charter flight

11 day Scenic Eclipse Tour:

  • 25 March : Arrival at the Agadez airport. We host you and drive you to your hotel for Overnight. Afternoon- time to visit Agadez.
  • 26 March: Early morning departure with 4WD : Agadez - Tiguidit cliff (engravings) - Camel well of Oufaguédout - Bourra Nassaouane - Ténéré tree. Overnight camp.
  • 27 March: erg of Ténéré - Oasis of Fachi (visit of the village and the salines). Overnight camp after Fachi on the erg of Bilma.
  • 28 March: erg of Bilma - Oasis of Bilma (visit of the village and the salines) Overnight camp at the “eclipse camp” between Bilma and Dirkou.
  • 29 March: Eclipse day. Morning observation - Dirkou - Aney - Seguedine. Overnight camp.
  • 30 March: Chirfa - the lost cities of Djado and Djaba. Overnight camp
  • 31 March: Stone Arch of Orida - Dissalak Cliff- Ténéré of Tafassâsset. Overnight camp.
  • O1 April : Ténéré of Tafassâsset - Blue mountains. Overnight camp.
  • 02 April : Adrar Chiriet - Tezirzek (engravings) - Oasis d’Iférouane. Overnight camp
  • 03 April : Gougâram - Agadez. Overnight hotel.
  • 04 April : Early morning departure (5:00 am) for Agadez-Niamey transfer. Arrival in Niamey late afternoon and directly go for luggages registration at the Niamey airport. Then drive to the hotel for day-room and dinner. Evening departure to Paris

12 day Cultural Eclipse Tour:
This tour will be delivering school supplies to nomadic Tuareg Children

- Optional 2 day stopover in Cassablanca, Morocco:  $800 per person * subject to change

  • 23 March : Morning departure with 4WD : Agadez - Azel - Dabaga - Aouderas (beautiful small tuareg village) - Krip Krip - Oasis of Timia (gardens, oasis waterfall, ancient fort). Overnight camp.
  • 24 March : .Morning visit of the oasis and meeting with the local population. After lunch departure to Assode (ruins of the capital of Air) - Tchintoulous . Overnight camp.
  • 25 March : Zagado Valley - Kogo and its blue Marble - Arakao (giant crater shaped like crab claw). Overnight camp.
  • 26 March : Morning visist on the spot of Arakao - Crossing Ténéré north of erg Brusset - Overnight camp
  • 27 March : Achegour - Dirkou - Overnight camp near Dirkou
  • 28 March : Visit of the oasis of Bilma and overnight at the eclipse camp
  • 29 March : Eclipse day. Morning observation at the eclipse camp - erg of Bilma. Overnight camp before Fachi.
  • 30 March : visit of the oasis of Fachi (salines) - erg of Ténéré - Ténéré tree Overnight camp.
  • 31 March : Bourra Nassaouane- camel well of Oufaguédout - Tiguidit cliff - Agadez. Overnight hotel.
  • 01 April : departure with charter plane to Paris

  • 03/27 : end of Djado visit - Chirfa - overnight camp between Chirfa and Seguedine.
  • 03/28 : Seguedine (salines) - Aney - Dirkou - Overnight camp between Dirkou and Bilma on “Eclipse camp”
  • 03/29 : Eclipse day. Morning observation and lunch at the eclipse camp.
    Afternoon visit of the oasis of Bilma and overnight camp after Bilma on the erg of Bilma.
  • 03/30 : erg of Bilma - Oasis of Fachi (salines) - Erg of Ténéré - Ténéré tree. Overnight camp.
  • 03/31 : Bourra Nassaouane - Camel well of Oufaguédout - Toureyet - Tiguidit cliff (engravings) - Agadez. Overnight hotel.
  • 04/01 (Saturday) : Departure on the charter flight Agadez-Paris

2 nights in Hotel, 2 nights improved camping, 10 nights primative camping.
